(Petitions to sign are also available at Olga's Diner - or take blank copies to gather signatures from your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.  We can also email you the petition page. This massive effort is our final opportunity to prevent a disaster and make a change for the better in our community!    As of 01/03/08, we had collected 1,758 signatures in just over 5 months - more than triple the goal we set at our July 25th kick-off meeting!)

The Marlton Circle Today - Before Construction

Thank you to those who attended the Town Hall Meeting with NJDOT on Wednesday January 23rd at Cherokee High School.  NJDOT dominated the lobby with their story boards.  Those in charge of the event finally stopped blocking us from setting up our information table after the attorney for CollisionMAX interceded on our behalf.  Inside the auditorium, NJDOT presented their Overpass Plan and a weak at-grade plan that had none of the important features (such as right turn on red) of our proposed at-grade plan.  The Q&A session was moderated first by Mayor Randy Brown (who left this important meeting to attend a sports event) and then by Councilman Chris Brown.  NJDOT made it clear to all in attendance that they have no intention of considering an at-grade solution.  Many attendees stood up at that point and angrily left the Town Hall Meeting in a show of protest.  Mayor Brown stated later in an 11pm interview on Channel 3 that he is in favor of NJDOT's overpass. There is a strong possibility that the next meeting will be scheduled with NJDOT by members of Evesham's business community - in court.  We hope this outcome can be avoided by the actions now being taken on our behalf by NJ Senators Adler and Haines, and NJ Assembly Members Rudder and Addiego.  Please express your support and concerns to them via phone, fax, letter or email.

At the 10/23/07 Evesham Township Council meeting, Deputy Mayor Schmidt was quoted as saying he is against the overpass!  Please email Mike Schmidt with your expressions of appreciation and support.  It's time for our Council to rescind the 2001 resolution and communicate to NJDOT that an overpass is the wrong solution for Evesham's quality of life and its local businesses.  We taxpayers deserve updated traffic figures that go from border to border of Evesham's Routes 70 & 73, and also - for the first time ever - a professional engineering drawing of an AT-GRADE INTERSECTION that has NO JUGHANDLES.

Your active participation in the next few months is crucial - - don't let this Overpass happen, because complaining during and after construction will be too late!  In particular, write Letters to the Editors of our local papers - The Courier Post, The Central Record, The Burlington County Times and especially The Marlton Telegram which is mailed to every 08053 residence.  Keep asking our Council and NJDOT to protect our community and our commuters from this permanent and disastrous monstrosity!

A simple intersection (without jughandles) would be good for the next 100 years, because NJDOT will never widen miles of 70 and 73 to 3 lanes each way.  It is time to stop decades of studies and debates - and give us an at-grade solution now as was done at our 4 neighboring circles.  Protect our commuters, our neighborhoods and our children by educating yourself NOW and joining our important mission.
