MEETING INFORMATION

  • Due to the tone and outcome of the Town Hall Meeting with NJDOT on Wednesday January 23rd at Cherokee High School, there is a strong possibility that the next meeting will be scheduled with NJDOT by members of Evesham's business community - in court.  We hope legal action can be avoided by the actions now being taken on our behalf by NJ Senators Adler and Haines, and NJ Assembly Members Rudder and Addiego.                   On the 23rd, NJDOT dominated the lobby with their story boards, and those in charge of the event finally stopped blocking us  from setting up our own information table after the attorney for CollisionMAX interceded on our behalf.  Inside the auditorium, NJDOT presented their Overpass Plan and a weak at-grade plan that had none of the important features (such as right turn on red) of our proposed at-grade plan.  The Q&A session was first moderated by Mayor Randy Brown who left this important meeting to attend a sports event, and then by Councilman Chris Brown.  NJDOT made it clear to all in attendance that they have no intention of considering an at-grade solution.  Many attendees stood up at that point and angrily left the Town Hall Meeting in a show of protest.  Mayor Brown stated later in an 11pm interview on Channel 3 that he is in favor of NJDOT's overpass.

  • Council chambers were packed at the Public Meeting held the evening of January 3rd at The Evesham Municipal Building when our 5 Council Members heard from many of our local businesses who expressed their concerns about the negative impact NJDOT's Overpass could have on the future of Evesham.  We thank Council & Twp staff for their time and consideration - and look forward to an eventual decision to rescind Resolution #124-2001 which approved design but not construction of NJDOT's overpass.

  • We met 11/27 at Olga's Diner with Reporter Lee Procida of The Marlton Telegram to discuss our concerns about NJDOT's proposed overpass.   Lee has been writing a series of articles on the project.  Councilman Chris Brown made a surprise visit and a lively exchange ensued - which resulted in the scheduling of the January 3rd Public Meeting (see above).

  • Your active participation in the next few months is crucial - - don't let this Overpass happen, because complaining during and after construction will be too late!  In particular, write Letters to the Editors of our local papers - The Courier Post, The Central Record, The Burlington County Times and especially The Marlton Telegram.  Keep asking our Council and NJDOT to protect our community and our commuters from this permanent and disastrous monstrosity!

  • Our table on Saturday 10/6 at Evesham's Fall Festival was a HUGE success!  We collected an additional 175 petition signatures, and had many lively discussions centered around the scary photos of the proposed Overpass and NJDOT's determination to force this project on our community.

  • Our first "Citizens' Work Shops" at Olga's on 9/24 and 9/26 provided a great opportunity for everyone to discuss the details of NJDOT's proposed overpass and our strategy to continue to build awareness and support to lobby for an "Intelligent Intersection with Smart Lights".  If you know of a group that would like to host us for a presentation, please let us know!

  • Mayor Brown and Councilman Brown met with NJDOT Officials the morning of Thursday, 8/23/07.   Please email Mayor Brown at mayor.brown@evesham-nj.gov to ask him and Council to continue to give thoughtful analysis to this disaster-in-the-making.  This affects ALL drivers - not just those of us who live in Marlton.  NO ONE needs more jughandles and intersections and side roads!  His position with NJDOT must be that we want a good solution similar to the 4 nearby circles, and it is our right not Trenton's to decide what is best for our community.

  • Our 8/21 Press Conference (6pm) and Council Meeting (6:30pm) were covered very well by reporters from Channels 3 and 10, KYW Radio, The Burlington CountyTimes, Central Record, Marlton Telegram and Courier Post.  We thank them!

  • Email us to join the designated Team Leaders in the 4 quadrants (NE, NW, SE and SW) to help get petition pages signed and notify residents of the website link.

  • Petitions are available for your signature at the front counter of Olga's Diner.  For those of you who can collect signatures (10 per petition page), please take the number of blank pages you need from Olga's or request the petition as a WORD document via email.  Completed petitions can be returned to Olga's.  Or get everyone you know to sign the ePetition (link on Petition page).

  • Please check the "Public Officials" page and email them with short specific comments about the impact the Overpass will have on your neighborhood and your commute.  This affects ALL drivers - not just those of us who live in Marlton.  NO ONE needs more jughandles and intersections and side roads!  Ask them to meet with us in a Work Session so they clearly understand the complex road configurations to which we will all be subjected.

  • Please check the "Reporters" page and email them with short specific comments about the impact the Overpass will have on your neighborhood and your commute.
